Saint-Malo es una antigua fortificación que se conserva en un excelente estado, por lo que permite que uno se imagine con bastante fidelidad lo que era la vida en esas épocas cuando la existencia transcurría dentro de unas murallas. La gran ventaja ahora es que todo es un gran “mall” renacentista, con varias tiendas populares de ropa y de zapatos, otras de productos locales y muchos cafés y restaurantes. Caminar sobre las murallas es un paseo de varias horas, con vista hacia la ciudad moderna, el mar y los apartamentos de la antigua ciudad, sin lugar a dudas un curioso lugar para vivir.
La mejor manera de protegerse de la lluvia es tomando cidra y comiendo crepas dentro de algún restaurante. Y cuando pase la tormenta no se puede dejar de ir a ver a la gaviota que trabaja como guardián de la costa y modelo en sus ratos libres: por más que la gente se le acercaba y le tomaba fotos, ella sólo cambiaba de postura para poder así mostrar su mejor ángulo a todo el público. Durante nuestro paseo también tuvimos la oportunidad de ver a gente que dibujaba en la arena el escudo de la Bretagne que tiene un adorable armiño que, por si no fuera lo suficientemente tierna, encima usa una bufanda. Y terminamos nuestra jornada recorriendo las murallas por fuera y acercándonos a ese castillo en medio de una isla que ha de tener la vista más hermosa de la ciudad.
Saint-Malo is a former walled city in excellent conditions, which is why it makes it easy to imagine what life was like in those times where they spent all time in an enclosed town. The best way to seek shelter from the rain is to have some cider and a crêpe in any restaurant. And when the storm dissipates you must visit the seagull who works as a Baywatch and as a model on her free time: no matter how many people got near her and took pictures of her, she just changed positions so as to show her best angle to everyone around. During our trip we also had the opportunity to see some people drawing in the sand the armories from Bretagne which has an adorable ermine whom, as if it wasn’t already cute enough, is also wearing a scarf. And we ended up our journey walking by the walls on the outside and getting close to this castle on top of an island who must have the greatest possible view on the town.
