Los restos del anfiteatro del Palais Gallien es lo único que queda de este edificio de finales del primer siglo, de la época en que Bordeaux era una ciudad romana conocida como Burdigala.
The remnants of the amphitheatre of the Palais Gallien is the only thing left out of this building of the late 1st century AD, from the time when Bordeaux was a Roman city known as Burdigala.
Actualmente los vestigios se encuentran sitiados por la ciudad: están rodeados por casas y por una plaza, lo que me hizo pensar que sería genial levantarse y poder ver esto por la ventana todos los días.
A pesar que este es uno de los monumentos de la ciudad que se encuentra en el centro histórico, no sé por qué nunca aparté tiempo para visitarlo cuando vivía allá. Me tocó ir a verlo en mi reciente viaje de turista. Y aunque no hay mucho que ver en su estado actual, refleja muy bien lo gigante que solía ser y es un hermoso lugar que visitar.
Nowadays the vestiges are besieged by the city: they are surrounded by houses and by a square, which made me think that it would be great to get up and be able to see this through your window everyday.
In spite of the fact that this is one of the monuments located in the historic center of the city, I don’t know why I never took the time to visit it when I lived there. I had to go during my recent tourist trip. And even though there’s not much to see in its current state, it conveys very well how gigantic it used to be and it’s still a beautiful site to visit.
