El convento de la Anunciación es un edificio del siglo XVI que alberga actualmente la Dirección Regional de Asuntos Culturales (DRAC) de la región de Aquitaine en Bordeaux. Del edificio original sobreviven la capilla y el claustro, pero en el resto se construyeron oficinas en 1994 por la agencia Brochet/Lajus/Pueyo, de las firmas más famosas de arquitectos en la ciudad, junto con el arquitecto Philippe Carle.
The convent of the Annonciade is a XVIth century building currently occupied by the Regional Direction of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) of the Aquitaine region in Bordeaux. From the original building the chapel and the cloister survive, but the rest was turned into offices in 1994 by the agency Brochet/Lajus/Pueyo, one of the most famous architecture firms in the city, in collaboration with architect Philippe Carle.
En algunas ocasiones vine a trabajar a este lugar, ya que es posible venir a consultar documentos, pero quise visitar el edificio cuando estaba de vacaciones en junio porque es uno de los proyectos reconocidos como más exitosos de la ciudad en cuestión de integración de lo antiguo con lo contemporáneo. La intervención de los arquitectos es como la del edificio Lainé, que alberga el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo CAPC y el centro de arquitectura Arc en rêve: es discreta y respetuosa pero al mismo tiempo segura de sí misma, no trata de esconderse, ni se avergüenza de estar allí. Quería ir y tomar fotos de este lugar porque era mi manera de rendir tributo a los arquitectos que tienen que trabajar con el bagaje histórico de Bordeaux y al mismo tiempo definir su rostro actual.
Occasionally I came to work here, since it is possible to consult some documents, but I wanted to visit the building when I was on vacation last June because it is one of the most acclaimed projects in the city when it comes to integrating the old with the contemporary. The architects’ intervention is like the one in the Lainé building that hosts the Contemporary art museum CAPC and architecture center Arc en rêve: it’s discrete and respectful but at the same time it’s confident, it doesn’t try to hide, it is not ashamed to be there. I wanted to go and photograph this place because it was my way of paying homage to these architects that have to work with Bordeaux’s historical baggage and at the same time they have to shape its current form.
