Baile, alcohol y chocolate

Deschanel, en un ataque de rabia, le responde: “I find it fundamentally strange that you’re not a dessert person. It freaks me out”.

In a “New girl” episode, the adorable and eccentric character played by Zooey Deschanel is astonished when someone tells her that she is not a “dessert person”. Deschanel, in a rage tantrum, replies to her: “I find it fundamentally strange that you’re not a dessert person. It freaks me out”. I felt deeply offended since I am neither a great fan of candies or pastries. Chocolates boys give me stay for months on my desk. Like my father, I now take the icing out of birthday cakes since I realized that the figure I had when I was seventeen cannot longer be maintained spontaneously (even though I no longer have the figure from nine years ago but I don’t want to make matters worse). And whenever there is the possibility of choosing between a cake, flan, ice cream, mousse or any kind of sugary bread and between a greasy hamburger, I will choose, without a doubt, the hamburger.

But today I ate a chocolate and I cannot take this fact as any other thing than a cry for help. Especially because it was a little Easter bunny Pamela gave me, that sweetly decorated the pile of books I haven’t read and I don’t have very much time to read.

I don’t have time; I don’t even have time to write this post that I will interrupt to go running with Liza, because my only way to decompress these days is to run around Peixotto park, like a hamster running around her cage. A relatively skinny hamster but in lousy physical condition, by the way.

I’m juggling between burying myself in the Municipal archives reading documents for my thesis, reading other students’ thesis about subjects pertaining to my thesis, trying to get interviews from people involved in what I study for my thesis, trying to get some construction permits I have to analyze for my thesis and trying to meet the deadlines I imposed myself for the thesis research which gives me only one more week before starting to write. So, when today I came home to have lunch –the only pause I allow myself- and after the meal and some coffee, I grabbed the bunny and mercilessly decapitated him, I knew something was wrong.

Another clue was when at the end of the day, when leaving the Archives, I felt a strong craving for a beer. I knew that if I had one I would not be able to have just one. I would end up going dancing until four thirty in the morning, when the tramway starts working in the morning. But sadly for me and luckily for my thesis, I have no one to go drinking, dancing and decompressing with. And it started to rain so I can’t go running and therefore I have no other choice than to write for the blog and keep juggling, but since I have no more chocolates left I shall eat some coconut candies lying around.

  2. Of course, because if I don't have someone to dance with, of course I have someone to do other stuff with.
