Uno de los puntos positivos de ser un estudiante extranjero es que existen asociaciones que organizan viajes, fiestas o reuniones para conocer gente o visitar lugares. En Bordeaux era Babaoc, en la que un estudiante francés apadrinaba un extranjero. En Ginebra es el Erasmus Student Network, el ESN, que tiene secciones en varias ciudades a lo largo de Europa. Tienen varias actividades previstas para este año y la primera excursión fue a Montreux y al castillo de Chillon.
One of the perks of being a foreign student is that there are associations that organize trips, parties or meetings in order to meet other people or to travel. In Bordeaux it was Babaoc, in which a French student became the “godfather” of a foreign one. In Geneva is the Erasmus Student Network, the ESN, who has sections all across Europe. They have a lot of activities planned for this year and the first one was a trip to Montreux and to the Chillon castle.
Montreux es una ciudad muy conocida por su festival de jazz anual, pero también porque está infestada de gente rica, así que hasta los mismos suizos la encuentran cara. Pero vale la pena: el paisaje es hermoso. Freddie Mercury vivió aquí y es por eso que erigieron una estatua en su honor.
Montreux is a town well known for its yearly jazz festival, but also because it is infested with rich people, so even Swiss folk find it expensive. But it’s worth it: the landscape is gorgeous. Freddie Mercury lived here and that is why you can find a statue in his honor.
No visitamos mucho la ciudad, más bien recorrimos el sendero alrededor del lago Lemán en dirección al castillo de Chillon, del cual les hablaré en otra ocasión.
We didn’t get to visit the town very much; instead we walked around the Leman Lake going to the Chillon castle, which I will tell you more about another time.
